S&T Student Email is moving to Gmail

We are excited to announce that Missouri S&T will soon move its student email and calendar platform from Microsoft Office 365 to Gmail in Google Apps. With Google Apps, S&T will gain the benefits of a single student email system by reducing confusion, ensuring consistency, streamlining student activation processes, and improving technical support.

When will the change take place?

The process is scheduled to begin March 25, 2014 and is expected to finish the following day.

How does this affect me?

Students currently using Office 365 will begin to use Gmail to send and receive mail
Note: Individuals will have an opportunity to move their Office 365 content to Gmail.

Students already using Gmail should not be impacted by this change.

Faculty and staff email accounts are Microsoft Exchange and will not be affected.

I use Office 365, what do I need to do to set up my Gmail account?

For now, keep an eye on your email. IT will send you three rounds of emails with instructions and links to online tutorials.

On Tuesday, March 25, your IT technicians will turn on your Google Apps account and begin forwarding your @mail.mst.edu account to Gmail. At that time, all your new email messages will be delivered to your Google Apps account and any new calendar invites will appear on your Google Calendar.

In the emails you receive from IT, you'll find detailed instructions to help you migrate your email, calendar, personal contacts, and get started using Gmail.

Where can I find more information?

Additional information will be posted here. Specific details and links to tutorials will be emailed to students' S&T email addresses.

As always, you are encouraged to contact the Missouri S&T IT Help Desk with any questions, concerns, or requests for assistance.
