Report Phishing Emails

If you believe you have been the target of a malicious phishing attack, it is crucial that you take the following steps to report the issue as soon as possible.

Report phishing email message to Microsoft:

  1. Select the Report Message icon in the message ribbon of the suspicious email to report the message to Microsoft.
  2. Choose the appropriate type of message

Report suspicious email message to the S&T IT Security team:

  1. Create a new message.
  2. Click Insert.
  3. Click Outlook Item.
  4. Select the message that you suspect is a Phishing email.
  5. Click OK.
  6. If you suspect the message is a part of a Phishing attack, address the email to: security@mst.edu
  7. Add the subject line: "Phishing received".

Report suspicious email message to Microsoft:

  1. Select the Report Message icon in the message ribbon of the suspicious email to report the message to Microsoft.
  2. Choose the appropriate type of message
  3. Select Report Message at the bottom of the Report Message Window.

Report suspicious email message to the S&T IT Security team:

  1. Create a new message in a new window
  2. Arrange the windows so you can see both the new message and the message list
  3. Attach the suspicious email message to the new message by selecting and dragging the message that you suspect is a Phishing email into the new message 
  4. If you suspect the message is a part of a Phishing attack, address the email to: security@mst.edu
  5. Add the subject line: "Phishing received".
