The fine print...

There are a variety of positions within IT that fit different skill sets and interests. Although some positions are more technical than others, students do not need to be Computer Science or Information Science and Technology majors to apply. IT looks for applicants who are interested in learning, working with people, and value technology.

Information Technology provides a variety of opportunities for students to gain professional work experience while attending Missouri S&T. There are approximately 60 student assistants working for IT each semester. IT is committed to providing a fair wage, excellent supervision, and an overall pleasant working environment.

To become employed with IT, students must be eligible for student employment on the S&T campus and available to work for two or more semesters. In many positions priority is given to those who can stay with the department longer. Student staff are also expected to work a minimum of six to eight hours and maximum of twenty hours per week for most positions. If hired, student workers must attend a mandatory New Student Hire Employment workshop before employment begins.
