- Antivirus Software -- All staff members are strongly encouraged to have an antivirus software package installed on personal machines. A free download of McAfee VirusScan (for Windows) and Virex (for Macs) is available. IT-supported machines already have McAfee installed.
- Secure Credential Initiative -- The University is committed to ensuring all student, faculty, and staff credential information (Single Sign-on User IDs and passwords) are not transmitted over the network in non-encrypted form. - Desktop Enhancement -- The Desktop Enhancement project provides a top-of-the-line computer for all faculty every three years, at no additional cost to your department.
- Purchasing Options -- Policies and procedures for ordering new computers / software / hardware through the University System.
- Recommended Systems -- In the market for a new computer? Check out these IT-recommended systems for use on the campus network. These are all available from the Missouri S&T Bookstore.
- Technology Classrooms -- Classrooms containing a wide variety of technological enhancements including instructor workstations, projectors, and in some cases, individual student laptops. Most Technology Classrooms are also equipped to support Personal Response System devices (a.k.a. "clickers").
- Personal Response System -- "Clickers" allow instructors to enhance the learning experience through direct interaction with the students during class time to gauge retention of the course material.
- Prize Registration -- From time-to-time, IT gives away free stuff (often called "swag"). Upcoming prize giveaways are announced via the student eConnection and on the IT Announcements page. Prizes in the past have included iPods, DVD players, 2 GB USB flash drives, and free software.

Policies
- Peer-to-Peer (P2P) and File Sharing Applications -- The University does not officially support P2P or file sharing, except for specific, business-related instances.
- Computing Standards -- Recommended specifications for personal computers used on the campus network. Older machines may have difficulty accessing some computer resources.
- Acceptable Use Policy -- All University faculty and staff members are expected to comply with these standards of conduct. Faculty and staff members who violate these standards will be subject to disciplinary measures, up to and including legal action, depending on the severity of the offense. Please behave.
