Working with Tables

1. Click the "Inserts a new table" button found here

2. Input the information for the desired table. 

3‌. Input the text/numbers within the table as desired.

To add a new row to your table

  • simply click inside a row and click the "Insert row before" or "Insert row after" button.


To remove a row from your table

  • simply click inside the row you wish to remove and click the "Delete row" button.

To add a new column to your table

  • simply click inside a column and click the "Insert column before" or "Insert column after" button.


To remove a column from your table

  • simply click inside the column you wish to remove and click the "Delete column" button.

1. To adjust several settings of a row within your table

  • click within the row
  • Click on the "Table row properties" button

 

2. Adjust the settings as you'd like. Please note that you can apply these properties to all rows, the current row, the odd rows of the table, or the even rows of the table. After you have changed the properties, click Update.

General Properties

  • Row Type:
    • Header: the row is moved to the top of the table
    • Body: the row is moved to below the Header(s) and above the Footer(s)
    • Footer: the row is moved to the bottom of the table
  • Alignment: sets the horizontal alignment of text in the row (left, center, right)
  • Veritical Alignment: sets the vertical alignment of text in the row (top, middle, bottom)
  • Class: sets the size of the font for the text in the row
  • Height: sets the height (in pixels) of the row

Advanced Properties

  • ID: assigns the row an ID for referencing (advanced)
  • Style: applies styling code to the row (advanced)
  • Language Direction: sets the direction of the text (left to right, right to left)
  • Language Code: sets the type of language being used (advanced)
  • Background Image: applies a background image of the user's choice to the row (paste link to image)
  • Background Color: allows the user to apply a background color to the row from a color selector or manual entry

1. To adjust properties of the entire table,

  • place your cursor inside the table
  • click the "Inserts a new table" button

Alternatively, to access table properties,

  • right-click within the table
  • select "Table properties"

2. After launching the Table Properties, a box like the ones below will appear giving you many options to alter your table's properties. After altering Table Properties, click Update.

General Properties

  • Cell Padding: sets the amount of spacing between the inside of the cell and the text inside of it (in pixels)
  • Cell Spacing: sets the distance of the spacing between cells of the table (in pixels)
  • Alignment: sets the horizontal alignment of text in the row (left, center, right)
  • Border: sets the width of the black border of the table (in pixels)
  • Width: sets the width of the entire table (in pixels)
  • Height: sets the height of the entire table (in pixels)
  • Class: allows the user to change the font size of the text in the table
  • Table Caption: adds a space above the table for typing a caption
  • Make first row a header: sets the text in the topmost row to bold
  • Make first column a header: sets the text in the leftmost column to bold

Advanced Properties

  • ID: assigns the table an ID for referencing (advanced)
  • Summary: (not supported in HTML5) used for setting the summary of the table to be used for referencing (advanced)
  • Styleapplies styling code to the table (advanced)
  • Language Codesets the type of language being used (advanced)
  • Background Imageapplies a background image of the user's choice to the table (paste link to image)
  • Frame: sets how the border/frame of the table is perceived/angled
  • Rules: sets to which parts of the table the borders are applied (just rows, just columns, etc.)
  • Language Directionsets the direction of the text (left to right, right to left)
  • Border Color: sets the border color of the table
  • Background Color: sets the background color of the table

1. To adjust properties of individual cells,

  • click within or select the cell(s) you would like to adjust (multiple cells can be adjusted at once)
  • click the "Table cell properties" button seen below

2. After clicking the "Table cell properties" button, a window like the ones below will appear. Please note that you can apply these properties to the currently selected cell, the current row's cells, the current column's cells, or all cells within the table. After you have changed the properties, click Update.

General Properties

  • Alignment: sets the horizontal alignment of text in the row (left, center, right)
  • Cell Type:
    • Data: (default) text is not formatted
    • Header: applies a light grey background to the cell and increases the font size and bolds the text within the cell 
  • Vertical Alignmentsets the vertical alignment of text in the row (top, middle, bottom)
  • Scope: assigns how the selected cell(s) should behave with advaned properties
  • Width: sets the width of the cell (in pixels)
  • Height: sets the height of the cell (in pixels)
  • Classsets the size of the font for the text in the row

Advanced Properties

  • ID: assigns the cell an ID for referencing (advanced)

To merge cells,

  • highlight the cells you wish to merge
  • click the "Merge table cells" button


 To split merged cells,

  • place your cursor within the merged cells you wish to split
  • click the "Split merged table cells" button
